There was widespread rain, accompanied by hailstorm, in Chandigarh and parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday morning. Snow was reported from higher reaches of Himachal, intensifying the cold wave in the region. The rain started early in the morning and soon people in Chandigarh experienced a hailstorm. Moderate to heavy rains lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, the Met department said. The night temperatures continued to rise for the third consecutive day, remaining few notches above normal limits, they said.
