Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the government’s goal of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022. Simple maths tells us that this would require the farmer’s income to rise by around 12 percent per year on average, over the next five years. This is in nominal terms, i.e. not adjusted for inflation.
