India reaches out to allies as deadline to list Masood Azhar a global terrorist looms near; all eyes on China timesnownews.com
New Delhi: The deadline to designate Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at the United Nations ends on Wednesday (March 13), however, Beijing is yet to clarify if its supports India’s demand regarding Azhar’s listing. India, on the other hand, reached out to crucial players on Monday, including the US, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to garner support for its request to list Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. The United Nations Security Council 1276 sanctions committee will decide on whether Azhar should be listed as a global terrorist, a proposal vetoed by China during past incidents. However, following the Pulwama attack last month, which was carried out by JeM, India has stepped its efforts to rally support for its demand to designate him as global terrorist at the UN.
