Brawl turns ugly, youth shot dead in Chandigarh’s Sector 49 tribuneindia.com

A 24-year-old youth, a former student leader who was recently selected in the Haryana Police, was shot dead, while three others were seriously injured after a group of six youths barged into their rented flat in Sector 49 and opened fire on them this morning. The incident is said to be a fallout of an old rivalry between the two groups. The victim who was shot dead has been identified as Vishal Chhillar, a native of Rewari, Haryana, while the injured are Pankaj, Ashish and Meghal, who received blunt injuries. Sources said Vishal, a former student of DAV College, Sector 10, had arrived in the city to celebrate his selection in the Haryana Police. Vishal threw a party for his friends at the CHB flat. There were a few other people in the flat at the time of the incident. The sources said the suspects were aware that Vishal was in the flat following which they arrived there around 6.50 am.
