Amulya Kumar Patnaik, a 1985 batch AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory) cadre IPS officer took over as the Delhi Police Commissioner on Monday. He has superseded senior IPS officers Deepak Mishra and Dharmendra Kumar, both 1984-batch IPS officers of AGMUT cadre, allegedly on 'reputation' merit basis along with the fact that he has a long tenure as compared to the other officers in the queue.
